🎉 New – compatibility with WordPress 6.3
WordPress 6.3 has just been released and the good news is that SEOPress is already compatible with this brand new version.
This should not, however, relieve you of your backup obligations during an update, especially when it is major: safety first!
🎉 New – FAQ and Breadcrumbs blocks updated
The FAQ block finally benefits from the native Styles tab of the Block Editor. Which allows you to customize in depth without coding the design of your FAQ.
Of course, you can do this from the Style Guide (FSE) to globally apply the same design to all the FAQ blocks on your site.
As for the breadcrumb block, we added the missing styling properties and optimized a couple of things here and there for a better user experience.
🎉 New – new iteration for OpenAI integration
We continue to improve our OpenAI integration with this new update:
- Mass generation of titles and meta descriptions (when using the bulk actions button from post type list) is now done by Ajax to avoid timeout errors;
- We re-optimized the prompts sent to OpenAI to get the metadata in the language of the article;
- Deprecated models like DaVinci, Curie, Ada and Babbage has been removed;
- you can now add your OpenAI API key to your wp-config.php;
- and check its status (valid, expired…) from SEO, PRO, AI tab. This should help you understand why you get some errors (429, 400…) when using AI.
🎉 Other news
This new version of SEOPress also brings its share of improvements and fixes including:
- improved GDPR: we have removed YouTube embeds from our interface as well as UTMs from our links for better privacy;
- the
noscripttag for Matomo has been moved to the body tag of your source code; - many UI improvements: language packs updated, characters counter for default site title, local business opening hours section, no more bulk actions on CPT/Taxonomies when SEO is disabled;
- white label enhancements;
- fix some PHP warnings for PHP >= 8.1
- and many other things!
For developers, we have added 3 new hooks:
- ‘seopress_pro_breadcrumbs_html_class_li‘ / ‘seopress_pro_breadcrumbs_html_class_li_active‘ hooks to filter breadcrumbs classes for li / active li;
- ‘seopress_sitemaps_html_product_cat_slug‘ to filter the product category slug in HTML sitemap, useful when using a different ecommerce plugin than WooCommerce.
